Hey BBQ King-I think it is fantastic that you are doing this. I am sad Dylan and I can't make it. I always look forward to skating with you guys. I hope to see you at OSG, haven't missed one yet. Boarder's Mom- Hey, Thanks for the offer, so far I'll be bringing:My Dinky BBQ and cooking utensilsHamburger for approx 6Veggie-burger for 4Sausages for 6(?)Buns for all the aboveMixed Greens for salad and burger toppingKetchup, Mustard, Pickles, Onions, TomatosRanch Salad DressingBanannasPaper TowelsPaper PlatesPlastic UtensilesCupsWater for DrinkingWater for washingSoap and washbasinsIf you want to bring something, Chips (and dip/salsa if you want) and maybe other drinks would be good. Deserts are OK, but historically sugary cheap bulk cakes and cookies don't get eaten, they just sit around and then get thrown away so I would'nt bother with those, at all, really. HOWEVER, home-made cakes,cookies, and brownies seem to dissapear quite readily- just don't bother making too much if you do, and don't mess up your schedule to do so.Also, historically not everyone who shows up eats the BBQ stuff so I would'nt recommend bringing any extra meats/buns, and I think this year's BBQ will be pretty small and mellow due to various factors. As of 12noon, http://www.weather.gov is still saying the weather should be sunny.Over and Out (for now) -BBQ King

Dammit. figured it would rain.....had a family event that needed to be scheduled and figured this week would rain out....Dammit. Gonna miss the BBQ. Means I may make Seattle in May.Dammit. My favorite event. Dammit.did I say Dammit???

WEATHER ALERT! WEATHER ALERT!This is turning out to be a pretty cool and wet mid-spring here in the Mid-Willamette Valley so anyone buying plane tickets or making big plans around the BBQ April 18th might want to think twice about it. The date may get changed due to the weather or get cancelled, this possibilty happens every year, but so far we've always pulled it off somehow(it might have had the date postponed once??), Just want to make that clear so everyone is advised.If you have only one opportunity to come to Oregon, and REALLY want to race on our buttery smooth soap box derby hill in Salem, Oregon and hang out with all the cool kids that will be there, and want a better more predictable bet on good weather, I HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend the Oregon State Games Race also posted on the Contest Calender.The BBQ is a LOT of fun, and I'll/we'll be glad to see everyone who makes it but don't knock yerself out trying to get here for "iffy" weather. Hey, I will likely not be able to be at Hood River since it conflicts with the week of "Echoes-In-Time" where I'll be teaching. Since I bailed out of that last year to help out and attend Hood River, I'll likely by going to "Echoes". I might try to squeeze in both but not likely. -Paul

I asked Gareth about Hood River 2010. He's overloaded at work and will not be able to Organize the Race this year. So I am now researching the possibilities of doing it. There is a lot of work to be done and I will need as help I can get. I'd like to be "2010 Hood River Slalom World Cup". It would be a 4 Cone event.If anyone would like to help please contact me. The Salem Slalom BBQ has been transferred to Sunday April 18th due to the fact that I realized the 11th is my Wifey's birthday, so I figured I better change it before she notices and brings up that point. So it will still be Sunday unless Pat wants to have it on Satarday(OK, so did anyone catch that?????)Schlater - Paul

Cat - I have to work on Saterdays and so do a lot of other people, so Sundays are usually the day preferred for our events, Also, that time of year is notoriously wet and unpredictable weatherwise so I never really recommend that anyone come from too far or buy plane tickets especially for a BBQ-slalom-get-together just so you know ahead of time, but we always like having you and the other NorCal'ers show up, but let's see what others think about it...............EVERYONE ELSE - Are Saterdays or Sundays better for having the BBQ?Thanks - P

At the moment I'm looking at April and arbitrarily picked Sunday April 11th which is COMPLETELY changable at this point and undecided, I just needed to put a date to post it.Same thing, same food, same place, same courses, same talking with the park lady in the white truck picking up trash and calling her boss on the radio to "see if it's OK". So, were you guys up there at the CSA North Annex able to change the date of the event to today Sunday Nov 1st due to the weather?? Or did you bag it? Just curious since I'm here stuck inside the X-ray cave on a nice sunny day when I could be outside skateboarding, flying my sailplane, shooting my bow, possibly racing/riding with you guys, etc, if I wasn't stuck here working. Hey,Tays not that hard to see,you just got to know where to look.hey Dave,Tay and i was over in Winston a couple of weeks ago,that is a nice park you have over there.i like it better than Myrtlecreeks.we met some young kid named Petey.he was pretty good skater.we let him try out all our boards.he didnt know what to think of the salom board.he kind of like the long boards tho. Hey, As of 4:20pm the forcast remains the same. My plans remain the same except I'm still fighting off some 2 or 3 viral somethings or others together for the last 45 days (and yes, I have good reason to believe that one of them is the "Swine Flu" due to the patients I have been X-raying and 2 recent airline flights) so I'll be there as long as I feel up to it. Oh yeah, that's the main reason I'm not putting on a BBQ and doing the cooking.Schlater- Paul

Hey, as of 10:45am Saterday Oct 3rd the National Weather Service - www.weather.gov - lists the weather forcast for Sunday Oct 4th in Salem as 40% chance of rain mainly before 11:00am (which is 10% more than when forcasted the previous day- increasing trend???).I'll try to check the weather later before I get off of work and post again what I find then unless Mr Choochoo posts something. As of this point, I plan on showing up with cones, chalk , boards, a broom and my R/C sailplane to grill Chewning and Anderson(if he shows up from hibernation) with sailplane questions.Adios - PTH
